At Split Oak Canines, our vision is to promote the health and well-being of Great Danes and French Bulldogs through responsible breeding practices. We believe in true breed standards and strive to produce the healthiest, highest quality puppies possible.
Our breeding selection process is carefully designed to ensure the health and well-being of the true breed of our dogs. We do not breed for the "newest fad" colors or unhealthy genetics, but rather true, correct and healthy representations of the breed. We provide our dogs with the best possible care, including proper nutrition, exercise, and socialization.
We are committed to providing the best life possible for our dogs. We work very closely with new owners to ensure that they have all the information and support they need to provide the best possible life for their new puppy. We keep in contact with our extended fur family and are available 24/7 for anything you might need throughout the life of your puppy.
Split Oak Canines originated from my parents property, Split Oak Acres, that I grew up on. There is an oak tree on the property that experts have estimated to be approximately 185 years old and if the trunk was standing up all together is about 10-12 feet in diameter. The tree was ripped into three during the 2004 hurricanes that struck Florida. Miraculously, all three parts of the original tree are still alive and thriving!
As I grew up and became a young adult, I wanted to make a difference in a unique way. Having a background in public service, I noticed the overwhelming need for service dogs in my community. Dogs have always had a special place in my heart ever since I was a small child. I fell in love with the Great Dane breed at a young age and after many years of experience and research, began breeding them in 2016 with the goal of one day training them in specific service jobs for children with mobility restrictions due to injuries or disabilities. We have a deep understanding of their temperament, behavior, and health needs, which allows us to produce healthy, high-quality puppies that make great family companions but also amazing service dogs. We are diligently working towards that goal every day and have already taken our first trip with our beautiful Daisy! Check out our SOS page for the exciting details. Stay tuned for updates as we progress through this journey and make it a reality!
We have also added the amazing French Bulldog to our program! We believe that true breed standards exist for a reason and are in place to protect the health and history of a breed. Understanding that certain breeds are more prone to certain complications than others is a part of owning and raising dogs. But striving to better the breed by ONLY breeding true, healthy and correct representations of the breed is how to protect the health of the breed. We do not believe in breeding for color or new "fads" but rather for healthy and quality dogs that will live long healthy lives. For this reason, we looked outside the U.S.A. for genetics that have been preserved as true French Bulldogs. We are very proud of our Frenchie's and how healthy they are compared to others we have seen. They do not struggle to breath and do not have structural problems. We are very excited to share our Frenchie's with our community!
